Alert to cell phone and GPS users out there!! Just recently, Garmin International (a company based in New York) unveiled the nuvifone, a full-fledged smartphone that combines a 3.5G phone, a web browser and a personal navigator with an appearance similar to Apple’s iPhone.
Features include:
• Google local search
• Garmin Online services - traffic, weather forecast, fuel prices, hotel discounts, etc.
• Nuvi-like navigation on the road or in pedestrian mode
• Email, text, IM functions
• Camera, video camera, MP3 and MPEG4/AAC
It would be interesting to see how this one could compete with the iPhone.. But we may have to wait a lil’ bit longer because Garmin anticipates that the nuvifone will be available in the third quarter of 2008…
